A doctor of medicine, often referred to as M.D., is an individual who has completed extensive education and training in the field of medicine, specializing in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases and injuries. This professional title is awarded after the successful completion of a medical degree program from an accredited institution, which typically requires a minimum of four years of undergraduate education followed by four years of medical school.
During medical school, students acquire comprehensive knowledge about human anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, pharmacology, pathology, and various medical specialties. In addition to theoretical knowledge, medical students also undergo clinical rotations, where they gain hands-on experience interacting with patients and practicing their skills under the supervision of experienced physicians.
